Photographic Equipment
So what do I carry about with me to take all these awesome images?
Camera bodies:
Nikon D2x
Fuji Finepix S2 pro
Lenses:
Sigma 28-300mm Hyperzoom
Sigma 28-200mm Hyperzoom
Sigma 18-55mm
Nikon 70-300mm 'G'
Other Kit:
Speedlight SB-80DX
Cleaning kit
Spare batteries
Varied collection of clamps and supports off E-bay
Notepad and pen
All in all I have used other stuff, different lenses and such but the lens set up that makes the most sense to me is the Nikon D2x with the 28-300mm sigma and the S2 Pro with the 18-35mm on it. This gives me the best range of zoom and as the fuji has a small built in flash it is easier to use with the very short lens for crowd shots while I go for the band shots with the 28-300mm lens on the Nikon as it has better resolution and low light capabilities than the Fuji.
Other Kit (Software etc)
Adobe Lightroom 3.0
Photoshop
DCE Autoenhance
EEEPC - 10" screen ideal for portable updates
Compaq 6715b good enough to run lightroom and be dragged out to events and festivals for editing there and then
HP HDX9430EA Dragon, the monster 21" widescreen laptop, doesn't go out often but this is the home PC for all photo and video editing when I have the time to wait before uploading.
So how much has all this cost me? much much less than you might think, cameras, lenses and almost everything has been bought from E-bay and other 'used' sources, only the HDX laptop was purchased new so all in all it hasn't been a bank breaking exercise to achieve this level of kit. The downside is of course that the kit I have will never be up to date, just can't afford £5k for a Nikon D3X or D3S as much as I would love to, so don't worry if you don't have a fortune, the Fuji S2 cost me £140 with a short lens, the 28-200mm Sigma that has been used to shoot nearly all the pictures on this site cost £55 so for under £200 I had the start of a professional rig, not a modern set up by any means but you judge from the results if it was any good :)
